For this Copycat Don Pepino Pizza Sauce Recipe, I used no-salt tomato sauce as a base, along with tomato paste. I also used corn oil, but you can choose any light vegetable oil. The rest of the ingredients are simple, just some basic powders and spices.

  • 1 (15-ounce) can of tomato sauce (no salt added)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon corn oil (or any light vegetable oil)
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

How to Make Don Pepino Pizza Sauce?

Step 1:

In a medium bowl, pour in the tomato sauce and tomato paste. Stir them together until it looks smooth like ketchup.

Step 2:

Add the corn oil and mix again. The oil makes it so creamy.

Step 3:

Sprinkle in the sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix it all up really well.

Step 4:

Now add the oregano and basil. Mix again. If you want a tiny bit of spice, you can add a little red pepper.

Step 5:

Let the sauce sit and rest for 30 minutes. After that, You can use it right away or keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
