I decided to make a Del Taco Hot Sauce, but it was hard to choose because I love all of them! I really like their Del Inferno and Del Scorcho too. But in the end, I went with a spicy one and added a special touch of my own.

Del Taco Hot Sauce

This copycat Del Taco Hot Sauce is super tasty. Even though I called it the “Hot Sauce,” I didn’t make it too spicy, I just used a little Tabasco to give it that hot touch. Of course, you can skip it if you want.

The base of my copycat Del Taco Hot Sauce is tomato paste. Yep, I went with that because I had a strong feeling it was the main ingredient, and I was right! The sauce turned out so good. I’m sure you already have most of the ingredients listed below in your kitchen, so nothing is too tricky to use when making this sauce.

I love making sauces like this, especially copycat ones. To be honest, this Del Taco Hot Sauce isn’t something I’d use with every single meal, but it was definitely worth trying at home.

Del Taco Hot Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar (white or apple cider)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • A tiny pinch of black pepper
  • Optional: a drop or two of Tabasco

How to Make Del Taco Hot Sauce?

Step 1:

Start by getting a small pot and putting it on the stove. Add the tomato paste and water, and stir until it looks smooth like ketchup. Then pour in the vinegar and mix again.

Step 2:

Now, slowly add the garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, cumin, chili powder, sugar, salt, and a little black pepper. Stir it all up really well.

Step 3:

Turn the stove to low heat. Let the sauce cook for 5 to 7 minutes. Stir it sometimes so it doesn’t stick.

Step 4:

I will suggest tasting the sauce at this point. If you want it a bit spicier, add a tiny bit of hot sauce as I did I used Tabasco.

Step 5:

Let the sauce cool down. Then pour it into a clean bottle or jar. Enjoy.

What to Serve with Del Taco Hot Sauce?

I love this Del Taco Hot Sauce with some Aloha Chicken Sausage. I had some leftovers and gave it a try, and wow, it was so good. I’m sure Sausages of any kind will work really well with this sauce. You can also dip chicken tenders in it or drizzle it over nachos. Also, some scrambled eggs or a rice bowl will be nice options to try with it, too.
