I truly love this Banana Pepper Relish, and I can suggest many dishes that go well with it. One time, I even spread it over a steak sandwich with some grilled pickles, it was such an enjoyable meal.

I made my Banana Pepper Relish very easily. Of course, you’ll need some fresh banana peppers, I used about one pound, along with some chopped onions. The other ingredients are mostly spices and seeds, so the preparation is super simple. And once again, if you like spicy sauces and condiments, this Banana Pepper Relish definitely deserves a spot in your refrigerator.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups chopped banana peppers (about 1 ½ pounds)
  • 1 ½ cups chopped onion
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric (for color and taste)
  • Optional: 1 small red bell pepper

How to Make Banana Pepper Relish?

Step 1:

Wash the banana peppers and cut them into little pieces. Take out the seeds if you don’t like it spicy. Cut the onions and red bell pepper too.

Step 2:

Put all the cut veggies into a big pot. Add vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds, celery seeds, salt, and yellow turmeric. Stir it all up with a big spoon.

Step 3:

Turn the stove to medium-high. Stir so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.

Step 4:

Turn the heat down a little and let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir once in a while.

Step 5:

Scoop the hot relish into jars. And Close the lids tight.

Step 6:

Let the jars cool off, then put them in the fridge. Enjoy.
